A long-awaited skate park and recreation area in north Houston won the City Council’s approval
Finally the park has been approved to be built in greenspoint. Now this is how you help the community.
Donations from JSAW and our supporters we THANK YOU!! Skate It Up 2012!
Recently we received 1 of three grants from JSAW and we would like to give a big shout of thanks to JSAW. We are good standing chapter of Christian Skaters and we are thankful for their support also. Both of these organizations are doing great things through out the world. Here is what JSAW had to say about their grant.
“Over the summer our team is sought out to perform demos, speak, host skate camps and contests. At these events the JSAW team shared the love and truth of Jesus Christ with 1900 students. Our two chapters here at home, Christian Skaters Minneapolis and Wakeboard Church, have also continued to make a transformative difference every week. JSAW Worldwide has given $1000 in grants to support action sports ministries like SFC Summit, TruthRiders, & Dunn County SnowPark, to further their efforts in sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ with riders in their local communities. This is not to get your applause or a pat on the back, but so that you know we are working hard to do what God has called us to do.”
This grant comes at a special time for us as we get ready for our annual outreach/contest skate it up. This year it’s been tough to get the same funds as we have before so we are very grateful for this grant and all our other supporters. If you would like to donate to the TruthRiders you can contact me or donate online at http://themetonline.org/giving-other-ways-to-give-jones-road Make sure you note it’s for the skate ministry. Our Church is a certified 501 C3 and your donations are tax deductible.
This years event will be very much the same but a little different. The skating will be rad I’m sure and it will again be at Southside Houston’s most recognized and only real indoor skate park. Thanks to Big O for letting us do it again Oct 6th 2012. Van’s rep Dan Augustine will be there along with Reliance Pro Elijah Moore to Judge. We will be cooking up some free food and as tradition has it the contest will be free. This year we won’t have trips to Woodward to pass out like we have in the past but that’s ok there is always next year and who needs Woodward anyway when we have the whole city of Houston and beyond to skate. God bless y’all I hope to see y’all at Southside Oct 6th. Poster coming soon!!!

I read all pro dad emails every week and I thought this one was worth sharing
Open your home to others
Below is part of the daily devotional I read today. As I thought about how as a country we have built these huge cities and houses. It seems to me it is very easy to get lost in your own little world today I can tell you I’ve been guilty at times. My prayer today is not to be ashamed or scared to open the doors to my house who knows it might be an angel.
Friend, hospitality is becoming a lost art. Our homes today have become a hiding place instead of a sharing place. Yet thousands of people have been launched on the road to salvation when they were invited into a Christian home and saw faith in action. Open your home today, and who knows, you might entertain an angel
Genesis 18:1-19
New International Version (NIV)
18 The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. 2 Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.
3 He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord,[a] do not pass your servant by. 4 Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. 5 Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.”
“Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.”
6 So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. “Quick,” he said, “get three seahs[b] of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.”
7 Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. 8 He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.
9 “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him.
“There, in the tent, ” he said.
10 Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.”
Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.”
But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”
Abraham Pleads for Sodom
16 When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way. 17 Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.[c] 19 For I have chosen him , so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”
Greenspoint skate park update
Houston Chronicle article on the Greens point skatepark.
It’s been awhile summer vacation and a summer cold have kept me busy or just out. A couple of months ago a few of us paid a visit to the city council to ask why the greens point skate park and park without limits has not been built. We have heard that things are now moving along and only time will tell. I suggest we all call or write the council and kindly ask for them to push (pun intended) this project forward. The tax money is in the bank and the hold up seems to be the funds to have the park supervised…really! Well I’ll leave it at that and ask everyone to pray for our government to use the funds we have given in a way that will improve the community.
Love Bug Festival
Thanks first to our Father God Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is through His blood we are saved. His grace and love are enough for you and me. Thanks to Shannon’s Street waves for sponsoring the event and the community of Magnolia for organizing the Love bug festival and allowing us to hold the competition. Original work filmed by Michael Beachman and remix edited by TruthRiders.

Spring/greenspoint park needs your help
Below is an article on the spring skateboard park that is about to be scratched for a new Greenspoint mall if we don’t act NOW. Do we really need a new mall?
Come to the next City council meeting and speak of how skating has impacted your life. WhenTuesday, june 19, 2 pm. contact city scheduler if you would like to speak , 832-393-1100. If you do plan to speak remember be kind courteous and present facts. Below is an article about the park and some stats about skating written by a local skater and friend. Use this info and your Personel story about skating to help the city council understand why building the skatepark is money better spent than spending money to refurbish the Greenspoint mall…
